We took a little trip in August to visit my brother Jakob and his family. It was only four days but it was nice. We drove over to Jackson, WY then into Yellowstone Park. Before even getting to Yellowstone we were able to see a few dear and some buffalo. We stopped in Grand Teton National Park to play by Jackson Lake for a little bit.
Our first stop in Yellowstone was Lewis Falls. The kids had so much fun climbing on the rocks and logs in the river and finally just got in to chase the minnows.
It started to rain after we left Lewis Falls, so we just drove strata to Old Faithful. We enjoyed a picnic lunch just before watching Old Faithful erupt.
My brother Jakob and his family got there just after that and we let the kids play with the interactive exsipits in the visitors center. Then walked around the gyser bason. We finished our visit to Old Faithful with ice cream on the balcony of the Old Faithful Inn.
After enjoying our ice cream. We drove around Yellowstone Lake and out the east enterence of Yellowstone on our way to our camp ground in Cody, WY. On our way I saw a few big horn sheep. My first time in the wild. This was not my favorite place to camp because of how close were were to everyone else camping there, but the kids still had fun cooking hot dogs and marshmallows around the fire. What I did like about were we camped was the free pancake breakfast in the morning and their fun pool.
After leaving the camp ground we had a picnic lunch in the park before going to the Buffalo Bill Cody Museam. It is actually like five Museums in one. I think it is really interesting, but it was kind of hard with the kids.
We left the museume and drove to Wyolla, MT were Jakob and his family live. It was fun to see were they live and they kids really liked just being able to play with their cousins.
The next day was Sunday and we got to see their small branch. I always like seeing other wards/branches. I think it is fun to see how different, but the same people are in the Church of Jesus Christ.
We enjoyed more visiting and playing before we had to say goodbye and drive to Livingston, Mt were we camped for the night.
The next morning were were up and into the north enterence to Yellowstone early. We saw a few dear and some sand hill crains before getting to the park.
We saw an elk on our way to Mammoth. Then we walked around for a little bit. James and I were a little behind the others and heard a noise by the path. I looked down to see this big snake. We told Jeremy and Ethan and they ran up to see it. I am not a big snake fan, but I loved seeing how excited James was about being the first to see an animal and tell everyone.
Then it was on to the Crand Canyon of Yellowstone. We went on a fun hike here. After getting home we found out that just the day before were there an eight year old girl fell right by were we were hiking and died. Kind of scary. It was a big drop off right by the trail that did not have a railing. In fact one of these pictures was taken just before Grace dropped my glasses and we never saw them again. They just went right down into the canyon.
We saw a few buffalo and even two bears after this. The bears were really far away and I could not get a good picture.
We stopped to have a picnic lunch at the India Picnic Area. Then we all walked across the Yellowstone River. There are not very many places in the Yellowstone River that you can walk all the way across, so that was fun.
We stopped at Fishing Bridge to buy a few suvanears before leaving the park.
Our last stop in our trip was dinner in Island Park. We had a fun trip, but it is always nice to come home.
