Spring Break - Moab Trip Day 2

Day two started out early with a drive to Arches National Park. We got there before there were any lines and we did not even have to pay yet. It was chili out, but we warmed up when we started hiking. 

Double Arch

This was our first hike of the day. They kids loved climbing all over the rocks. Double Arch is the tallest and second-longest arch in the park. 

Landscape Arch

Our second stop of the day was a hike to Landscape arch. This is one of the world's longest stone spans, stretches 306 feet, yet is only about 11 feet  thick at its center

We continued on up the trail past landscape arch onto the primative trail that leads to Navajo Arch. I was kind of nerves about climbing up the steep rocks, but the kids did great and loved it. Jeremy was amazing to carry Hyrum up the steep trail.

Double O Arch

We started to get snow flurry's, but wanted to see Double O Arch. That's when Gavin took off because he was ready to go back. I was so worried he would miss the turn and take the wrong trail. Thankfully he stopped at the trail sign that turned off to the different trails. That kid is way to independent and just does what every comes into his mind. 

We ate lunch in the van before heading off to our next hike. 

Delicate Arch Upper View Point

We decided not to hike all the way to Delicate Arch even though it is the most famous arch in the park. The light opening beneath the arch is 46 feet high and 32 feet wide, making it the largest free-standing arch in the park. We just hiked up to the upper view point. We could see the arch and way less people. 

  Wolfe Ranch

It was fun to learn the history of the the park and see the wolfe cabin.

Balance Rock

We made a quick stop by balance rock before heading out of the park. 

We got our stamps in our pass port books at the visitors center and used the bathroom before we had to drive to Monticello, Utah to spend the night.

The hotels pool was closed because of Covid. The kids were disappointed. We swung past the Monticello LDS Temple then found a yummy place for hamburgers for dinner. We spent the rest of the night playing Uno.
