Nauvoo Day 3

We started our day in Nauvoo with breakfast at Grandpa John's Cafe. Then off to the visitors center were we got tickets for a wagon tour of old Nauvoo. While we were waiting we walked around the Monument to Women Garden.

The wagon ride was perfect. We were able to see all the historical sites in old Nauvoo and hear a little history. It made it nice to know what things we wanted to go see. We did not have very long in Nauvoo, so we had to prioritize what things we wanted to see. The kids seemed to like the wagon ride and liked petting the big horses after it was over.

After that we started our own tour of old Nauvoo at the Scovil Bakery. We all got a cookie while we learned about the bakery.

Next we stopped at the Family Living Center. They showed us how to make berrils, we helped make a rope and got to take it home (Ethan's favorite thing. He played with it a lot.), and learned how they baked bread while enjoying some of that yummy bread. They had other things to learn hear, but the kids were ready to move on.

Pioneer Pastimes was nice to let the kids run around and play with some of the toys and games the pioneers would have had.

My great-great-great-great grandpa Vinson Knight's house in Nauvoo is still there. So it was fun to stop and see it.

We then walked the trail of hope were my great-great-great grandpa Gilbert Belnap has a plaque with a quote on it.

The trail of hope ends at the Missassippi. 

We were all ready to cool off and get some lunch at this point. We grabbed lunch at Zions Mercantile Restaurant before heading back to old Nauvoo. Before everything closed at 5 p.m. we went to the brick yard learn how to make bricks and get our own brick. We finished by going through Brigham Young's Home. My great-great-great-great grandpa Alexander Neibaur set up his dentist shop in Brigham Young's house.

Then we went back to the Visitors Center to meet Kyle and Shantelle. Because everything closes at 5 there was really not a lot to do. We did go down to walk around the Smith Family Cemetery, homestead, Nauvoo House and Mansion House. We read the plaques outside of these places, but could not go inside.

We let the kids run around and go to the bathroom before going to a show the senior missionary's put on called "Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo." We meet Shantelles Family there for this. I was really worried about how my kids would do in this, but they were good. This show was like a musical comedy. It was one of my favorite things in Nauvoo. So Goo!

We stopped at Weber's Kitchen for dinner before going back to our condos.
