Taking a Look Back at 2008

January – We started our year off with lots of temple work. Heather’s little sister Tami did a lot of family history and got names ready to go to the temple. Also, Heather’s family came to stay with us and go to the Rexburg Idaho Temple open house. The big news for January was that Heather’s little brother Kyle and her Uncle George took their endowments out on the same day in the Logan Utah Temple.

February – More temple work for our ancestors’ thanks to Tami, and Heathers Uncle George and Aunt Marion were sealed in the Logan Utah Temple. The Rexburg Temple is dedicated and we get to attend through a broadcast to our stake center. Valentines took us to Pocatello for a Jim Brickman concert.

March – Jeremy goes on his only business trip of the year to Maryland. He was able to go see his cousin Eric and family while he was there. Also he went to DC and saw some of the sights. Heather stayed home and was able to go with Kyle to the MTC as he left on his mission to Mexico. We headed down to Salt Lake for an off Broadway play of "The Heiress." Yes we did more temple work for our ancestors.

April – Heather’s family branded cows and Jeremy and Heather both were there to help out. We celebrate 3 years of marriage, and we still were working on temple work for ancestors.

May – We went back down to Salt Lake to see our last off Broadway play of the season “The Producers.” Jeremy’s nephew Travis was baptized. Heather’s Grandpa Avery passes away on May 4th. Heather turns 23 years old and wraps up her first year of teaching second grade at Harwood Elementary. It is very bitter sweet knowing she will not be going back to teach the next year. We tried to get in as much temple work as we could before the baby came.

June – The biggest news of our year was finally getting our sweet baby boy Ethan Jay Furniss on Saturday, June 28th at 3:43pm.

July – Ethan gets his first bath. We have the Furniss Family Reunion at the Furniss’ Farm in Driggs, Idaho. Jeremy takes a week off of work to go to scout camp with his scouts (he was the scout master). Heather and Ethan enjoy two baby showers thanks to Jeremy’s sisters/mom and her amazing visiting teacher. Ethan also gave us his first smile this month.

August – Heather was moved from teaching the valiant 9 class to teach the Sunbeams. Jeremy turned 27 years old. Ethan went to his first baseball game (The Idaho Falls Checkers’ vs. The Ogden Raptors). We took Ethan on his first campout in Lava with Heather’s family. Jeremy was released as the scout master and put in as the Young Men’s First Counselor. Heather’s brother Jakob returned from his mission in Argentina after serving for two years, and we had the Neibaur family reunion were Ethan went on his first hike.

September – Ethan was blessed by his dad Jeremy. Ethan also rolled over for the fist time. Our first time back to the temple after Ethan was born.

October – Heather moved from teaching the sunbeams to teach the CTR 7 class. Ethan’s first Halloween. He was a jack-o-lantern.

November – Heather’s Grandma Avery went to the temple to take out her endowments in the Logan Utah temple. The next week Heather’s cousin Shelby got married in the Jordan River Utah Temple. Ethan started to sit up on his own around the time he had his first Thanksgiving with the Avery Family. Ethan went to his first basketball game (ISU vs. BYU).

December – We got a new couch, love seat, and chair for our living room for Christmas. It was Ethan’s first Christmas with the Furniss family and he is now six months old.
