Ethan's Positions: Receiver/Wing Back, Cornerback, Punt/KickOff Returner

Ethan had a great year and scored a number of touchdowns. I think the most impressive stat though is that he personally never fumbled (turned it over to the other team). He also did a great job shutting down the teams other receiver. I think the person he was covering only scored once maybe twice all season. On defense, Ethan at times can be too nice and doesn't put aggression into his tackles. Where other kids see an opportunity to hit someone who is being tackled by someone else Ethan lays off and is the nice sportsmen.

James's Positions: (RB/LB/Center/Returner)

James wore the same jersey number as Ethan but they were different jerseys.

I enjoyed being around the boys and participating in football practice. I like not have the full responsibility as head coach but it was hard not to want to change up the offense. We let the boys call the plans but we had to substitute players in to get them enough plays and offensively the kids aren't explosive enough to make too many big break up plays. In the past they relied on Declan to run around the end on 4th down and get a big play. Many of the other teams players are now bigger and faster than Declan so that didn't work as well and we had to rely on more passing. However, it's hard to convince 12 yrs to stay in the pocket and trust your receiver. In practice we had some good throws and catches but they had a hard time telling the difference between the teams and throwing the ball to the right person. James is a great coach on the field and that led him to call plays on defense and get moved to center after being used to block as a running back. James needs to work on lateral quickness and tackling through the player instead of just using his hands but he is fun to be around and a great football player. He ended the year with some great tackles for loss, sacks, and fumble recovery's. Oh and a great kick off return along with some excellent power runs but unfortunately he didn't have many opportunities.
